Many who have been NBA fans for a while can remember one of the NBA’s golden eras of the 1980s and images of Magic Johnson and Isiah Thomas embracing before games is one of the images that was most synonymous for the era, partially for how rare that was at the time.
Most people may be unaware that the at one time great relationship between possibly the two greatest point guards in NBA history soured by the 1990s though and among other things, Magic Johnson reportedly was a part of the movement (headed by Michael Jordan) to keep Isiah Thomas off of the Dream Team in the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona.
While their strained relationship hasn’t been that out in the open or a classic and well-documented NBA beef like for instance Shaq and Kobe for a while, the two apparently never really reconnected with one another or moved on from their issues.
Until a special moment that aired on NBA TV on Tuesday night when they were both on the panel for one of the NBA TV’s “Player’s Only” discussions…

It is a very raw, moving, and real embrace between the two that really shows just how much built up emotion existed between the two over their falling out years ago, especially with Isiah Thomas who was clearly moved and overcome with emotion to finally reconcile with Magic.
There should be plenty of great moments on the court the remainder of this season, but there may not be a better one on or off the court than that.
