KD Accidentally Revealed Reasons for Leaving Thunder on Twitter…

Kevin Durant making the decision to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder in free agency in 2016 and join the Golden State Warriors was the biggest event in the last five years of the NBA and could continue to shape the direction of the league (and who occupies the throne) for the next five years at a minimum.

Durant is a very open and blunt person, but he never really spoke ill of the Thunder organization in making his decision, rather focusing on the opportunity the Warriors presented him as an organization and how he was ready for a new journey, until now…

Durant is very active on Twitter and will at times respond to fan questions or criticisms, but he took that a step further over the weekend in what appeared to be a huge social media misstep on his part.

Durant allegedly has numerous Twitter accounts, some of which he uses to defend himself against Twitter haters (Durant cares a little too much about what people think if you ask me) and it seems pretty obvious that he meant to reply to a fan’s question about why he chose to leave OKC from one of those accounts but accidentally replied with his own personal Twitter account explaining some of the reasons he chose to leave.

His response in 3rd person makes it pretty obvious and gives an air of legitimacy to these screenshots…

This is possibly the most damning of his responses though, a clear as day admission that he didn’t feel he could win a title with his supporting cast in OKC…

The tweets have since been deleted from Durant’s account and he hasn’t made a statement on the situation. It will be interesting to see if he decides to go with the tried and true strategy of “my Twitter account was hacked” or if he tries to ignore and suppress this whole situation in general.

Pretty interesting to hear that he is not a fan of Billy Donovan and didn’t have the confidence in himself to win an NBA title in Oklahoma City even though he was a win away from defeating them as a member of the Thunder in the 2016 NBA Playoffs.

The lesson here, as always for professional athletes: social media is a dangerous thing that needs to be used wisely and with caution.
