Paul George is the Los Angeles Lakers’ best free-agent recruiter.
And he’s not even a Laker.
While appearing on 95.7 The Game, NBC Sports Bay Area analyst and former NBA player Kelenna Azubuike said George has “definitely” started recruiting Klay Thompson on behalf of the team he doesn’t yet play for:
"He has definitely has put in a call to Klay Thompson and he would like to play with him in LA." -Kelenna Azubuike on Paul George & LA.

I mean, this is fantastic. Not only is George still a member of the Indiana Pacers, but Thompson won’t be a free agent until 2019, a full two years from now. Talk about foresight.
This doesn’t feel that farfetched, by the way. George has been linked to the Lakers for some time. They are the reason the Pacers are scrambling to trade him now, one year before he has the option of exploring free agency. And this news does Indiana a disservice, in the sense it proves how committed George remains to joining the purple and gold.
If teams won’t fork over much to acquire a possible rental, what will they give up for George now, when he’s potentially already recruiting players for his next destination?
Meanwhile, Draymond Green should probably have a word with Klay about the importance of loyalty and trust and brotherly bonds.
