Kevin Love to Have Knee Surgery, Miss 6 Weeks

love

Kevin Love has easily been having his best season since joining the Cavaliers in 2014, he has found a way to maximize his skill set to fit in seamlessly with LeBron and Kyrie Irving and is back to his 20 and 11 ways without having to be the focal point or even the second option of the offense.

The one damper on Love’s revival this season has been his recurring back spasms which have been bothering him for years, even before he joined the Cavaliers. A new issue has surfaced with a recent injury to his left knee and now Love is slated to miss six weeks and undergo a minor procedure.

Will Burge of WTAM 1100 Cleveland first reported the news Tuesday morning after an MRI on Love’s left knee revealed an issue that required a minor surgery.

This is a huge blow to a thin Cavaliers team already reeling from the extended absence of J.R. Smith. With Love on the shelf, that puts even more of the onus on LeBron and Kyrie Irving to provide most of the offensive punch for the defending champs.

Expect Channing Frye to receive a much larger role with the team in the coming weeks.
