When the Cavs shocked the Warriors last June, many tears were shed. LeBron James was sobbing as he embraced Kevin Love when the clock struck zero, and head coach Tyronn Lue never left the bench area. By the time the camera caught him, he was seating on the bench, crying tears of joy with his hands in his head.
But this wasn’t the first time Lue tasted victory. He was a member of two Lakers championship teams back in the early 2000s as a bench, role player. When asked which means more, Lue sides with the Cavs.
“It meant more because of everything I had to go through,” Lue said following Monday’s practice. “I think the Lakers, when I won two championships, we were favored to win so being the underdogs going into the Finals, being down 3-1, going through all the things I had to go through in the second half of the season and our team had to go through, this meant a lot more to me than the first two.”
