Reggie Jackson Could Miss Considerable Time

According to ESPN Reporter Marc Stein, Pistons Point Guard Reggie Jackson could miss “extended time” due to knee tendinitis.

Apparently he had dealt with the issue throughout much of his career, but it appears to be flaring up at the moment and is becoming a concern for Jackson and the Pistons organization.

This report still seems very vague and phrases such as “extended time” and “knee tendinitis” don’t provide much clarity as to how injured Jackson may be and how much time he could potentially miss to recover.

The Pistons are also apparently in the market for a point guard. Without Jackson they are left with free agent acquisition Ish Smith and younger, even less proven point guards Ray McCallum and Lorenzo Brown.

Some potential veteran point guards on the market currently include Mario Chalmers who is recovering from a torn Achilles in March, Steve Blake and Kirk Hinrich.

Chalmers seems like the best fit if he is in fact ready to step in and play right away.

This could be a spot where the Pistons consider giving up a pick or a young wing player to acquire a point guard such as Michael Carter-Williams or Ricky Rubio.

It will be interesting to see how dire Jackson’s health situation is and whether the Pistons will feel the need to bring in a veteran point guard either through free agency or trade.
