At some point, Allen Iverson has become incapable of not crying when talking about his Hall of Fame career. It’s great to see. In fact, he gets emotional thinking about how emotional he’ll be when he is actually giving his speech once he’s actually inducted into the Hall in a few months.
He has rounded up his crew of would-be guest speakers. He has apparently asked his former college coach John Thompson, his former Sixers coach Larry Brown and…Stephen A. Smith to introduce him.
Of the three, Smith sticks out the most. Before he became a household name on ESPN, Smith was a writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer and was on the Sixers beat during the height of Iverson’s time with the team. Apparently, the two have remained close. Iverson was also Smith’s first guest on his ESPN show “Quite Frankly” which debuted back in 2005.
I asked Stephen A, coach Brown and coach Thompson to present me to the HOF. Allen Iverson
