Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr Offers Perfect Description of Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry won’t be suiting up for the Golden State Warriors anytime soon—at least a couple of weeks—as he recovers from a sprained MCL. If and when he does return, it will be interesting to see if he’s the same basketball psychopath, or if he’s an inferior version of himself for fear of re-aggravating any one of his injuries.

Head coach Steve Kerr, for his part, isn’t worried about Steph, per Diamond Leung of the Bay Area News Group:

This sounds about right.

Stephen Curry is a breathing contradiction. He is humble with his comments, but his execution is ruthless. It takes a special kind of cold-blooded killer to routinely pull up from 28-plus feet early in the shot clock, and then turn his back in celebration before he even sees that shot go down.

It’s an interesting juxtaposition, really.

Not every player could get away with Curry’s on-court reactions. Imagine, if you will, James Harden or Carmelo Anthony turning their back on a shot while it’s in mid-air. They would be roasted on social media and in the hot takes section of postgame think pieces.

But not Curry.

That’s how good he is. His play style is unprecedented, his execution nearly flawless, his ego balanced out by the perfect mixture of aplomb, outright cockiness and humility.
