The Memphis Grizzlies have been quite remarkable this season at 29-12, placing them at the third spot of the wild Western Conference. But despite this, the team is still looking to add improvements to the current roster and have been closely looking at a number of free agents who could contribute to the team.
That being said, the Grizzlies are reportedly interested and have become serious contenders for free agent and veteran power forward Tyrus Thomas, who hasn’t played in the NBA since being waived by Charlotte in July of 2013.
From Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports:
The Grizzlies are in "serious discussions" with free agent forward Tyrus Thomas about signing him to a 10-day contract, a source told Yahoo.

Free agent forward Tyrus Thomas worked out for Grizzlies prior to signing to play for D-League Iowa. Memphis has been in the hunt for a PF.

Thomas underwent surgery on his back last year, which forced him to be sidelined for quite some time. But reports now indicate he’s healthy and ready to make an NBA comeback. Apparently scouts in the Grizzlies camp feel he’s still able to be a consistent contributor in an NBA rotation.
Throughout his seven years in the league, Thomas has averaged 7.7 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest. He had his best season back in 2009-10 with the Bulls where he put up 10.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game.
With the Grizzlies strong interest in Thomas, this may prove to be the chance he’s been looking for to prove he’s still got some fuel left in the tank.
