As we head closer towards the new season, there are a lot of uncertainties hovering over the New York Knicks especially regarding the major changes they have made in the off-season. But one thing is certain, that is their forward Andrea Bargnani will be needing more time to fully recover from his injury and may miss their season-opener, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post.
The 28-year-old center said that he’s not sure when he will return from a right hamstring strain and admitted he’s frustrated by the injury. He also underwent an MRI exam last Tuesday, but did not reveal anything about the results.
Bargnani has been dealing with a hamstring injury over quite some time now and it actually forced him to an early exit last season. He only managed to play a total of 42 games for the team, while averaging 13.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. More so, the 7-foot center was acquired from the Toronto Raptors just last season to add more offensive weaponry to the team. A big man who can open up the floor for his teammates with his ability to shoot around the perimeter at a respectable percentage can definitely cause trouble for opposing teams. It was really unfortunate for him and the Knicks that he sustained this season-ending injury.
With a new coach, a new system to adapt to, and Bargnani not at full strength (yet), it will probably take quite some time before the whole team to fully perform at their highest level and the keys for the Knicks this season would be patience, patience and patience.
