Kansas Recruit Cliff Alexander Wins 2014 HS Player Of The Year

cliff alexander rt float 2The University of Kansas mens basketball program has soared to new heights under coach Bill Self.

The Jayhawks have regularly been a Top 10 ranked team in his 11 year tenure at the school, winning the 2008 NCAA National Championship, the school’s first since the legendary Larry Brown coached team won the title back in 1988.

Self has been especially impressive on the recruiting front as of late, securing the services of several top flight high school recruits over the past few seasons, most noticeably Andrew Wiggins, Joel Embiid, and Perry Ellis.

Those players in particular have helped this year’s Jayhawks team win yet another Big 12 Conference regular season crown and are once again one of the favorites to contend for a #1 seed in March Madness.

With several of this season’s stars expected to be one-and-done type players, Kansas has reloaded for next season with highly touted recruits Kelly Oubre and Cliff Alexander.

Alexander, the #3 rated HS prospect in the nation per ESPN, has already been compared to NBA superstar Dwight Howard for his immense size and ferociousness around the rim at such a young age.

The 6’10 and 240lb power forward now has some hardware to put on the mantle to help justify such lofty comparisons as he was selected as the 2014 Naismith Hish School Player of the Year.

Alexander follows last season’s runaway winner Andrew Wiggins, giving Kansas a mega boost in recruiting by landing the last two consecutive HS Player of the Year award winners.

He had 33 points, 24 rebounds, and 7 blocks in a single game this season and beat out Oubre, Arizona bound Stanley Johnson, and the nation’s #1 ranked player Jahlil Okafor for this season’s award.

Check out Cliff Alexander’s highlights from his senior season at Curie HS in Chicago………..
