Reigning NBA scoring champion Carmelo Anthony is entering a pivotal season with the Knicks as this may be his last real shot of winning an NBA title as a member of the Knickerbockers.
After the upcoming season, Melo has the choice of opting out and becoming a free agent, one that would be in high demand as a number of teams like the LA Lakers have already expressed interest in securing the services of arguably the Association’s top scorer.
Wisely, Knicks management has already pledged to let Anthony essentially build his own team in 2015, in order to not only surround their franchise player with better talent but keep Melo in a Knicks uniform indefinitely.
Even though New York has added former #1 overall pick Andrea Bargnani, Lakers’ defensive specialist Metta World Peace, and drafted sharpshooter Tim Hardaway Jr to last year’s team, they still face a tall task in unseating the World Champion Miami Heat, along with the much improved Brooklyn Nets, Chicago Bulls, and Indiana Pacers just to get through the East.
