Tyler Hansbrough to Sign with Raptors

The reason the Indiana Pacers knocked off the Knicks and gave the Miami Heat all they could handle in last year’s playoffs was because of their depth and size. Roy Hibbert and David West seem to get all of the credit for the work they do down low, but they have help.

Tyler Hansbrough played in certain situations for Indiana, to give the defense a different look, and to do some dirty work. But Tyler was a free agent and left the Pacers. Worry not Pacers fans, your team will be talented again. Also, the Pacers signed Chris Copeland away from the Knicks, so he can help fill in.

The Toronto Raptors have finalized a contract with free-agent forward Tyler Hansbrough, a source told ESPN The Magazine’s Chris Broussard.

Earlier, sources told ESPN.com’s Marc Stein that Hansbrough was nearing an agreement on a multiyear deal with the Raptors. Wednesday marks the first day that teams can actually sign players with the lifting of the league’s annual moratorium on player business.

Hansbrough only became an unrestricted free agent this month after the Indiana Pacers — in the wake of their new three-year, $36 million deal with David West — consented to relent on Hansbrough’s restricted free-agent status.
