Sixers Reach Out to Brian Shaw About Their Head Coaching Vacancy

Brian Shaw had been the Lakers assistant coach for many year and was suspected to be next in line whenever Phil Jackson stepped away. But when Phil actually stepped away a few years ago, Lakers brass passed over Shaw and hired Mike Brown who had no connection to the Lakers at all. Shaw left and is now on the Pacers’ staff.

But Shaw may land something this off-season. Or, at the very least, he’ll get interviewed again. Doug Collins will not be back next year to coach the Sixers and the club has reportedly reached out to Shaw. It’s always an interesting dichotomy when a coach whose team is still alive, talks to another team about a job. But we’re sure it won’t distract Shaw’s focus.

The Sixers, according to a source, have contacted the Pacers’ associate head coach about their vacant head-coaching position. Because the Pacers are in the playoffs, Shaw will interview for the position when the time is appropriate.
