Tracy McGrady today weighed in on the Miami Heat’s 22 game winning streak. Reached via text message, McGrady said the Rockets 22 game winning streak from a few years ago was a lot more impressive. He mainly cites the Rockets lack of multiple all-star personnel as the reason for the differentiation.
“I’m enjoying watching because of the unknown,” McGrady, by text, said of the Heat’s run. “But the way we did it was a lot harder. Having Yao [Ming] go out [due to injury] around the 12th game and Dikembe [Mutombo] filling his role was huge for our team. And we didn’t have three guys making $100 million.”
Maybe T-Mac isn’t the best person to ask about how difficult it was to achieve the 22 game winning streak since he wasn’t battling in the trenches through the games with the Heat, but merely watching from home like any other fan.
Shane Battier on the other hand…was on both squads during their streaks. What does Battier think?
