Reports started circulating on twitter last night that the owners of the Sacramento Kings have sold the franchise to Seattle investor Chris Hansen.
There have been rumors for the better part of a year that the Maloof’s might sell the organization and/or move them to another city. There have been many locations discussed, including Virginia Beach, Las Vegas, Seattle, and even some talk of whether the Kings could mark the first NBA team overseas. But according to rumors the team may very well be landing in Seattle.
Rumors coming from @arenaseattle that the Maloofs have sold the Kings to Seattle. Could be what Mayor McGinn’s press conference is about.

Seattle fans have been rabid about wanting an NBA franchise back in town since the Sonics were moved to Oklahoma City. At this point they are just rumors, but everyone should perk up and keep their eye on the situation over the next couple of weeks to see if this comes to fruition.
Seattle reporter Chris Daniels had this to say on twitter late last night:
I’m honored ya’ll wanted to wake me from my bed to ask me about the “rumors”, but I’ll have more to say on this platform tomorrow.

So the big question becomes, if the team is moved to Seattle, are they going to be the Kings or the Sonics?
