Between the ’92 and ’96 Olympic Games, the role of Scottie Pippen went from becoming a role player to a certified key component for the Chicago Bulls. That growth in his game is what prompted Nike to commission Pippen to be the face of the Air More Uptempo which worked as a precursor for the Air Pippen signature line.
Said to be inspired by the oversized pop art images and the size of graffiti tags, the “AIR” tag seen on the side of the Air More Uptempo was definitely one of those sneakers that you really didn’t have to ponder on which company made it. Accompanying this release was the Air Much Uptempo; a lighter version of this sneaker which favored the point guard type of play.
