Fan Paid $10,000 For ECF Game 7 Ticket

June 11, 2012 – Allen Moll

We already knew that getting a ticket to a regular season game for the Miami Heat was a hard bargain as they were near the top in home attendance, but getting a court side seat to a Game 7 match-up against the Heat and Celtics turned out to be in such demand that some fan paid upwards of $10,000 for a seat to witness Lebron, Wade, and Bosh advance to their second consecutive NBA Finals.

According to the Miami Sun Sentinel, seats on StubHub.com sold out in short order and went for as little as $125 to as much as $10,000 to sit courtside.  Presumably, the sweat from KG and the pleasure of sitting alongside Rick Ross and Lil Wayne are part of the percs.

The online ticket re-seller reported that the majority of tickets bought came from residents of Florida(57%), followed surprisingly by Canada’s Quebec Province(5%), followed by New York and Massachuesetts at 3% each. I guess Lebron has fans in Canada?

Apparently the Game 7 was a huge hit on television as well. The Miami Heat’s win over the Boston Celtics to reach the NBA Finals has drawn the highest preliminary television rating for an NBA playoff game on cable since records started being kept in 2003.

Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals Saturday night on ESPN produced a 9.1 overnight rating. The network said Sunday that the three highest overnight ratings for NBA games on cable have come during this series. In Boston, the game had a 21.7 rating, the highest on cable for an NBA playoff game in the market since records started being kept in 2003.
