Before the season tipped off I picked the Thunder to represent the Western Conference in the Finals this year. I also picked Durant to lead the league in scoring for the third consecutive year. The Thunder have one of the best young cores in the business so many have lofty expectations for this. But the biggest hurdle for them may in fact be from within. Who can forget the conversation that was born during the playoffs surrounding Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant and shot attempts. Well that will surely be the case again this season.
In Westbrook’s defense, he has the tools to be thee guy on an NBA roster. Skill-wise, he’s very similar to league MVP Derrick Rose. But unfortunately for Westbrook, he plays alongside Durant so it will always seem as if he shoots too much. If you don’t believe me that Westbrook could shine on his own, then just as Minnesota’s Luke Ridnour. Check out was Westbrook did to him last night. In all my years of watching basketball, I’ve never seen anyone fall this badly as result of getting crossed up:
