Magic Johnson to Play in “Obama Classic Basketball Game”

President Obama (well, his handlers anyway) is staging a charity basketball game where proceeds with benefit the Obama Victory Fund. Retired and current NBA stars will participate. Magic Johnson has decided to participate

Add Hall-of-Famer Magic Johnson, former NBA All-Star Steve Smith and current Boston Celtics standout Paul Pierce to the list of players that have agreed to play in the “Obama Classic Basketball Game.” Take Dwight Howard off that same list.

Howard withdrew from the game Tuesday, but did not reveal his reason. Johnson, Smith and Pierce join an already lengthy roster of participants for the Dec. 12 exhibition in Washington, D.C., which will help raise money for President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign.

The venue for the game has not been finalized, but a number of former and current NBA players already have committed to participate. They include: Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, Ray Allen and Chris Bosh.
