We are entering a treacherous time in the lockout negotiations. Both sides feel they are fairly close to a deal, and we are in danger of throwing out the baby with the bathwater. The obvious sticking point however is a major one. How to divide the basketball related income between players and owners.
I think all involved want to see a deal happen before Wednesday, the day of David Sterns ultimatum to possibly scrap the season and go into an all out war. The NBA’s brightest star, Kobe Bryant, had some very careful words for Yahoo! Sports yesterday directed at both the owners and the players:
“We need for the two sides to get together again before Wednesday, because we’re too close to getting a deal done,” Bryant told Yahoo! Sports. “We need to iron out the last system items and save this from spiraling into a nuclear winter.”
