The Kentucky Wildcats’ biggest incoming recruit, literally and figuratively, for this upcoming season is Turkish superstar Enes Kantner. Standing at 6’11 inches, and weighing more than 270 pounds, Kantner is an imposing figure as the heir apparent to DeMarcus Cousins as starting center in Lexington for the 2010-2011 season.
With recent developments uncovered concerning Kantner’s amateur status, since he played on a team with professional players in Europe, leaving him currently ineligible, the gentile giant has hinted in local television interviews on campus of a future career after basketball……….in pro wrestling.
That’s right. He mentioned the WWE specifically, with his favorite wrestler being the Undertaker. Surely Vince McMahon would sign the impressive athlete right now if Enes decides to give up hoops.
Check out Kantner’s quotes on the subject:
“After my basketball career I want to be a wrestler, professional wrestler.”
Kanter is a die hard wresting fan, his favorite wrestler, is the Undertaker. “I started watching like 4 or 5 years ago, and then right now I feel like him on the court. His nickname is unbelievable that’s why I love it, “The Deadman”, I love it.”
“People started calling me the Underkanter 3 months ago. Right now my nickname is Underkanter.”
Now let’s not get carried away since even if the “UnderKantner” never sets foot on an NCAA hardwood, he is already projected as an Lottery pick in most 2011 NBA Mock Drafts. Not many current collegiate players, or NBA players for that matter, possess his immense skill-set as a mobile, dominant, scoring big man.
As for his basketball skills, check him out dominating US players in the 2010 Nike Hoop Summit Game. He led all scorers with 34 points, breaking Dirk Nowitzki’s record:
