Toronto Raptors “Young Gunz” Summer Dunk-Off

August 17, 2010 – Allen Moll

Now that the Chris Bosh era North of the border is officially over, the Raptors franchise will be looking to build off of their super talented nucleus of young players like DeMar Derozan, Sonny Weems, and Amir Johnson, who appropriately have been dubbed the “Young Gunz.” While some may see the changing of the guard as a downgrade and clearly has the Raptors in rebuilding mode, I for one think that the organization is finally getting on the right track behind the leadership of Andrea Bargnani and the high flying 2nd year pro Derozan.

In an idea first seen on Amir Johnson’s personal website, the Young Gunz trio have decided to have a Summer dunk-off, with the winner decided by fans voting on Amir’s website. In a strange twist, the losers of the contest must walk around Toronto’s downtown area in a pair of tights. Now that’s a bet that surely no one wants to be on the losing end off. You have to consider Demar Derozan the favorite since we previously showed you his dunking exploits prior to competing in this year’s NBA Slam Dunk Contest.

Check out the video and log onto Amir Johnson’s site to vote for the winner:
