Interview With Bulls Point Man Derrick Rose

August 5, 2010 – Allen Moll

Last season, Derrick Rose became the first Chicago Bulls player since the legendary Michael Jordan in 1998, to play in the NBA All-Star Game. After winning the NBA Rookie of the Year the season prior, Rose continued his ascent towards NBA elite status this past season by averaging a career best 20.8 ppg, 6 ast, and 3.8 rebounds per contest, and helped to lead the Bulls into the playoffs. He now will be showcasing his skills later this Summer as a key contributor for USA Basketball in the FIBA World Championships.

While Rose is a star in the making on the court, he is reportedly a gracious and humble player off of it, as he regularly is involved in his hometown Chicago community, constantly doing charity work and running his very own Summer Camp by helping to teach fundamentals of the game to under-privileged youth of “The Windy City.”

Recently our fine friends over at Gowherehiphop.com caught up with the former #1 overall draft pick at the site of his 2nd annual basketball camp, to discuss his daily routine with camp participants, how it was to play with some of the game’s best players at the Team USA Camp in Vegas, and even what music he listens to that gets him pumped up before games and during workouts. He even admits to losing a game of Knock-Out to one of his campers, which is shown during the beginning of the video.

It’s really a great interview done by Jen DeLeon, of the Gowhere Hip Hop crew, and if you haven’t done it yet, please check out their site, where they attempt to bring you the latest in mainstream and underground hip hop and R&B from both the Chicago and national arenas. As a matter of fact, I just downloaded the latest track from their site, featuring a collabo with Lil Wayne and noted University of Kentucky hoops fan Drake, titled “Right Above It.”

Check out the interview as Rose opens up about Music, Team USA, and more……..
