Kevin Garnett made waves this Summer when it was announced that he would move from adidas overseas to sign with ANTA as his official shoe manufacturer. But the Chinese footwear industry may have gotten it’s biggest victory on Friday with the United States release of Baron Davis‘ signature shoe, the BD Doom.
On Friday August 13, the BD Doom line of footwear and apparel were made available in select Champs Sports stores, located primarily along the west coast. The shoes and the gear can be found online as well, at ChampsSports.com and Eastbay.com.
The shoes have been designed accustomed to Baron’s style, perfect for strong and sharp cuts on the floor. Li-Ning boasts their Bounse™ and Cushion™ technologies for high energy reactivity and shock absorption in the Dooms, and no Baron Davis shoe would be complete without the “Beardman” logo on the tongue.
With low cuts and shoes with minimal ankle-support beginning to work their way back into fashion, it is nice to see a stylistic and fashionable shoe that also offers proper support. (Not all of us ballers have the best set of tendons down south) The rubber outsole has an artistic rendition of the city of Los Angeles (Baron’s hometown) that highlights the UCLA and The Staples Center.
Expect a full review of the shoe in the coming weeks here at The Hoop Doctors, but until then check out this video of Baron’s press tour through Beijing. His stops included a stop at Yao Ming’s charity game to coach, and of course some on-court examples of the BD Dooms in action. Video features the track “Never Change” by @Skeme produced by DJ Butta.
