President Obama Makes His Picks For March Madness

Last March, a newly sworn in President Barack Obama, picked the North Carolina Tarheels to win the 2009 NCAA National Title, proving that he is way more knowledgeable about college basketball than his predecessor, George Bush. As he sat down with ESPN’s Andy Katz yesterday, could he once again correctly select the National Champions in consecutive years?

I don’t know about you, but I think it’s kind of cool that the President is into something we all can relate to. Everyone seems to think that our Commander in Chief and his family are closed off from the rest of the world in that big white house, and is constantly pre-occupied with World Peace and the war in Afghanistan. Now we know that he has been watching Big Monday from time to time like the rest of us!

During the 2nd edition of Barack-etology, President Obama gave some very impressive insight when making his selections. Surprisingly the President felt sorry for Purdue for losing their best player, Robbie Hummel and gave strong opinions on why he liked Georgetown, Ohio State, and Villanova to go far in this year’s tourney. He also joked with Katz that although his bracket selections blew up in the early rounds last year, he more than made up for it by picking the overall champion Tarheels.

All of us here at the The Hoop Doctors have been longtime fans of Barack Obama, even though he doesn’t think Evan Turner’s skills will bring home a championship. For the record, his Final Four selections were Kansas, Kentucky, Villanova, and Kansas StateNow if he could only solve Unemployment and the National Healthcare debate!
