Dunk Contest Preview: Shannon Brown’s Top 10 Dunks

February 12, 2010 – Allen Moll

The Lakers’ Shannon Brown has taken a long hard road to the National Basketball Association. Now that he’s here, he just wants to DUNK.

Brown has been an Internet sensation by forming his own website, LetShannonDunk.com, which it’s sole purpose is to promote Shannon’s outstanding dunking abilities in order to get himself into this season’s Sprite Slam Dunk Contest.

Now that he has accomplished his goal by becoming a contestant, how will he fare against the 3 other competitors?

A lot of fans think that Shannon is only capable of throwing down thunderous dunks, but he is actually a very well rounded player who epitomizes the struggle of young players fighting their way through the D-League by playing on 4 different teams in less than 4 years before latching on and winning an NBA Title last season, with the Lakers.

Coming out of Proviso East HS in Illinois, Brown was named Mr Basketball in Illinois and was chosen as a McDonalds All-American. At Michigan State, he steadily increased his production each season and was regarded as one of the best defensive players in the Big Ten Conference, along with averaging more than 17 ppg in his junior season.

After being selected as the #25 pick by the Cavaliers in the ’06 Draft, Brown struggled with the speed of the NBA game and was demoted to the NBA’s Development League. After two season’s of constant call ups, demotions, and trades, Brown finally found a home with the LA Lakers in February of last season.

Shannon has regularly thrown it down whenever possible in games this season as a warm up for this season’s much anticipated dunk Contest. Ever since he found out he will be in the contest, he just can’t stop dunking things.

Shannon, you have asked virtually everyone who has listened, to allow you to dunk…………..now show us what you’ve got!
