Dunk Contest Preview: Nate Robinson’s Top 10 Dunks

February 12, 2010 – Allen Moll

As a 3 time veteran competitor of the event and a 2 time champion, Nate Robinson, has to be the odds on favorite to take home an unprecedented 3rd trophy in this season’s Sprite Slam Dunk Contest.

There’s just something impressive about a 5’8 player, with a 44 inch vertical leap, that can literally dunk over his competition and do an impression of Soulja Boy.

Like him or not, Nate has proven to be the Dunk Contest’s best performer over the latter part of the past decade, by combining some amazing athleticism, swagger and a knack for using some pretty creative props that give him the ultimate edge in defeating whomever opposes him.

Who can forget Nate dunking over former champion Spud Webbor using a green ball to create “Krypto-Nate” to take out Dwight Howard’s Superman?

Nate has had a pretty tumultuous season so far that began last Summer when virtually no one other than the Knicks offered him a 1 year deal. Upon returning to the Knicks, Robinson almost immediately clashed with coach D’Antoni over a lack of dedication to the team and the whole shooting the ball in the wrong basket fiasco didn’t help matters either.

After receiving a Did Not Play-Coach’s Decision for 15 straight games, Nate sent a message by having one of the best individual performances by any player this season by dropping 41 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists on the Hawks on New Years day.

What could Nate possibly have up his sleave this year? Maybe he could dunk over former NY Knicks slam dunk legend, Kenny “Sky” Walker?
