The thing that amazes me most about Dwight Howard, is not his pure size and strength, but rather his insane athletic ability. The guy is cut like a small forward, but with the size and strength of a dominant old-school center. Sometimes this lethal combination can take his opponents by surprise.
Case in point, there was one particular play in the Orlando Magic vs. LA Clippers game last night that illustrates this point exactly. Dwight Howard receives the rock in the post and begins to back down Clippers center Chris Kaman in much the same way your typical center would. But when Dwight eventually faces up on Kaman a few feet from the basket, Kaman’s first instinct is to put a hand in the face of Howard to distract him from his certain jump shot to come.
But wait….a second or two later Kaman comes to the shocking realization that Howard is NOT in fact shooting a short jumper, but IS in fact DUNKING ON HIM. Get out da way Kaman, just get out da way:
