We’ve been anticipating this weekend’s release of the Nike Air Yeezy for quite sometime now. For those of you not familiar with them, the Yeezy is the first design in a partnership between Nike and hip-hop artist Kanye West. The design is extremely fresh, and although the black/pink colors are in your face, you can’t deny how great these would be to rock with a new pair of jeans.
Partnering with Nike Creative Director, Mark Smith, Kanye was taken through the product creation process, the same way athletes have with Nike Design for the past 37 years,” said Smith. “Kanye is a natural designer—partnerships like this always enhance the creative experience and the end product.” West agrees that the partnership with Nike has been exciting. “Nike is such an important brand to me,” said West. “Whether you are on the court, in the street, in the club, at school, Nike represents excellence, the standard in design.”
There was a limited edition early release in April with the Grey/Charcoal colorway, but the photos of the black/pink/grey featured here are of the big nationwide release this Saturday. There is also a grey/beige colorway available. Around these parts the line-ups were huge, with people traveling from far and wide to get their hands on a pair. They pretty much sold out everywhere. I guess Kanye West just can’t lose, huh? When you’re hot you’re hot….more photos after the jump:
