When he first arrived in New York, Amar’e Stoudemire had to work hard to prove to people that he was worth the $100M the Knicks gave him. And he did just that, as he was a legit MVP candidate.
However, last season he became somewhat of a role player. It appears as if that trend will continue. The Knicks have been playing well without him while he’s nursing an injury, and it sounds like he’s willing to take a role off the bench.
“All he cares about right now is helping the team and winning,” said one source, who has been around Stoudemire regularly in recent weeks. “He’d be fine with coming off the bench if that’s what they want….
“He just wants to win,” the source says. “He sees how well they’re playing and just wants to help. He’ll be fine with whatever they want to do.”
