Michael Phelps is now the most decorated Olympian of all-time with 19 medals. Phelps also holds the all-time records for gold medals (15) and gold medals in individual events (9). In winning eight gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Games, Phelps took the record for the most first-place finishes at any single Olympic Games. Five of those victories were in individual events, tying the single Games record.
So with that said, could Brooklyn Nets player Kris Humphries have been even better than Phelps at one point? Apparently so…

“I was so good at a young age (he outraced Phelps when he was 10 years old) that I got a little burnt out,” he explained. “I also grew up in the Michael Jordan era … for me, I watched (basketball) and saw it as a challenge. It’s hard to stay focused on something when you have a ton of success at such a young age, so I picked up basketball a little later and rolled with that.” (via)
