In the last few years, sneaker nicknames have become out of control. Its getting to the point where companies themselves are promoting the unofficial nicknames themselves. Most of the time, the name comes from the items that share the same colors used but there are the instances where you would have to divulge deeper into the backstory of the sneaker.
The aptly titled ‘LeBronold Palmer’ LeBron IX Low draws its name from the more universally popular Florida athlete Arnold Palmer. Possibly the best sneaker nickname I’ve ever heard, the ‘LeBronold Palmer’ features a palm tree print around the entire upper with copious amounts of teal seen on the midsole, laces, tongue, and other panels of this sneaker. The drink, which also shares the name of the Florida golf legend, is also referenced inside of the right insole further hammering the inspiration home. With the amount of lowtop versions of the LeBron IX, it would justify itself getting a list to go along with the top 9 LeBron IX list.
