Despite having the honor of being named after two of the greatest basketball players of all time, 14 year old baller Kobi Jordan Stephens-Sims also has the highlight reel game commonly associated with both Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. All of this in spite of the fact he hasn’t played a single minute of high school ball yet.
The already 6‘4 and 190 lb Stephens-Sims hails from Georgia, and just completed an amazing 8th grade season averaging an astonishing 36 ppg, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists playing his natural position…..point guard. While he may be named after MJ and the Black Mamba, those are inexplicably close to the triple-double numbers commonly put up by Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo.
Kobi Jordan’s rapid rise to hoops stardom has taken him to the Under Armour Southern Kings AAU program based in Atlanta, Georgia. Back in early May, he was touted as one of the standout stars at the 2012 John Lucas Middle School Combine, even being named the top point guard in attendance.
He hopes to follow in the footsteps of a former Southern Kings star performer Ryan Harrow, who was a HS superstar before playing one season at NC State, then transferring to Kentucky to be the starting point guard for the reigning NCAA champion Wildcats this upcoming season.
Kobi, along with fellow 8th grade phenom Ben Coupet Jr, who also has a connection to Kobe, are both players we will be hearing a lot of as top collegiate and pro prospects over the next few years. Word on the street is that Kobi Jordan already sees himself as a one-and-done player.
