What would a draft lottery be without people claiming foul play? Happens every year. The 7 – 52 Bobcats had the best chance at landing the #1 overall pick. But as we know, that doesn’t guarantee much since the last team with the best chance to actually win the lottery was Orlando (Dwight Howard) in 2004. So here come the conspiracy theorists since the Hornets landed the top pick, after the dealing away Chris Paul. It’s highly unlikely that anything is rigged because the amount of collusion that would have to take place would be unprecedented. And there would almost certainly be something leaked anonymously.
“It’s such a joke that the league made the new owners be at the lottery for the show,” one high-ranking team executive told Yahoo! Sports. “The league still owns the Hornets. Ask their front office if new owners can make a trade right now. They can’t. This is a joke.”
“I bet I could get my owner to tank if I knew the chance of getting the No. 1 pick was 100 percent,” an NBA team president said in an email.
