The tale of Ben Gordon, not long ago one of the best scorers off of the bench and pure shooters in the NBA, has become a sad and frankly bizarre one.
Gordon, who has been out of the NBA for over two seasons now and attempted a comeback last season with a short stint with the Texas Legends of the G-League (still getting used to that), was arrested for the second time in a week over the weekend.
According to a report from USA Today, Gordon was arrested November 25 on a felony robbery charge in Los Angeles, only five days after being arrested in New York for a forged license plate.

“LAPD public information officer Irma Mota said police officers arrived at 9:10 a.m. Saturday at a downtown Los Angeles apartment complex, where Gordon had been renting two apartments. According to the police report that Mota relayed by phone, Gordon confronted the apartment manager about returning his security deposit. After the manager advised Gordon that he did not have access to the deposit, Gordon punched the manager in the face. He left after the manager provided him with a portion of the security deposit.
Gordon returned shortly thereafter, again demanding the security deposit — and this time Gordon had a knife, according to the police report. After a witness intervened, Gordon left before being apprehended and arrested.”
Gordon has been arrested four times in total over the past year, including for pulling a fire alarm when there was no fire in the same complex alluded to in the report above in June, and for barricading himself and a woman in a store in Mount Vernon, New York in October when she threatened to leave him.
This is a pretty sad story as Gordon clearly has some issues and is not adjusting well to life after basketball.
He averaged 14.6 points over his 11 year career with Chicago, Detroit, Charlotte and Orlando and was the first rookie in NBA history to win the NBA Sixth Man Award in the 2004-05 season.
