With Kevin Durant going down with a bum knee, the Spurs were no doubt licking their chops, as the #1 seed in the West seemed to be theirs for the taking. But that possibility has taken a hit with this recent news that LaMarcus Aldridge will be out for an indefinite period.
The 31-year-old big man will be sidelined for the foreseeable future after being diagnosed with a minor heart arrhythmia. Whenever there’s a concern with the heart, naturally, everyone thinks of the long-term health of the player and basketball becomes a distant second. Hopefully, this proves to be nothing serious and Aldridge is able to safely return to the court.
“They are doing some tests,” Popovich said before Saturday’s game against the Golden State Warriors. “They did some tests today and they are going to continue it on Monday. He is going to see some people on Monday and based on what they do and see, we’ll know better what we are really looking at. But we don’t know right now.”
