Jeremy Lin’s first season with the Brooklyn Nets has not gone according to plan. He has appeared in just 12 games all season, missing the other 25 with two different hamstring injuries.
The latest hamstring injury has sidelined him for the team’s last seven games—all losses. And while the Nets have yet to provide a concrete update on his timetable, Lin indicated he should be ready to rock in a couple weeks while doing an interview with CCTV in Chinese.

Jeremy Lin believes he’s ready to come back now. The Nets continue to offer no update on his prognosis. And so goes what has been a lost first season for the team’s marquee free-agent acquisition, a pair of hamstring injuries costing Lin 26 of the Nets’ first 38 games.

“It’s progressing gradually,” Lin said of the hamstring. “I think the recovery is faster than last time.”
The Nets need Lin. Their fourth-quarter meltdown against the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday night proved why.
Isaiah Thomas, who didn’t play the fourth after suffering a sprained knee, isn’t yet ready to run the offense, and Spencer Dinwiddie is only gong to get you so far on his best nights. Sean Kilpatrick is becoming more experienced in the pick-and-roll, but he commits more turnovers than you would like.
Though the Nets won’t be great with Lin, he at least provides valuable experience late in games, and there’s no question the offense will look better long term with him running point. At the same time, the Nets have no incentive to rush him back. They are already the worst team in the league, and while they don’t own the rights to their own draft pick, it’s still better for them to play the long game with one of their most valuable assets.
