Ask any basketball loving kid ages 5-18 and they will tell you old school black or white socks are totally out and swaggy socks featuring different colors or professional athletes faces are the way to go.
The Pistons are joining the swaggy sock party this weekend as they honor former defensive anchor and rebound gobbler Ben Wallace when the team retires his No. 3 jersey Saturday night against the Warriors.

The image of Ben Wallace in the Pistons red, white and blue with his huge afro and headband creating havoc is a fond memory for every kid who grew up loving basketball in the early 2000’s, including myself.
Wallace averaged eight points, 13 rebounds and almost three blocks per game in his first stint with the Pistons from 2000-2006 and won NBA Defensive Player of the Year four times while leading the league in rebounding and blocks during that time period as well.
He was also a member of the Pistons 2003-04 NBA championship team.
I hope the Auburn Hills crowd is full of fake afros and headbands on Saturday night. Fear the Fro!
