Doc Rivers Fined $25,000 For Criticizing Refs

docdoc1Game 5 of the Clippers – Thunder series ended in a very controversial manner. The Clippers squandered a lead, but an interesting out-of-bounds call by the refs gave OKC another shot at winning, which they took advantage of.

Because of the controversy, Doc Rivers went off after the game and criticized the refs.

Not surprisingly, the league has come down on Rivers by fining him $25,000. At least the NBA is very consistent with this penalty.

The NBA fined Clippers coach Doc Rivers $25,000 for his extended criticism of the officials after Los Angeles’ 105-104 loss to Oklahoma City in Game 5 on Tuesday.

Rivers was incensed by the referees’ decision to grant Oklahoma City possession after an out-of-bounds call with 11.3 seconds to play and the Clippers leading 104-102. Thunder guard Reggie Jackson was driving to the basket when Clippers forward Matt Barnes swiped at the ball.
