Knicks May Tap John Calipari if Mike Woodson is Fired

We are only 11 games into the season, but after a 3-8 start, we are in full panic-mode regarding the Knicks. The team has been stung by the injury bug already and the defense has left a lot to be desired. And because Mike Woodson is a defensive-minded coach, that’s not good news for him.

Reports indicate that if the Knicks part ways with Woodson this off-season because of the aforementioned reason, they could turn to John Calipari. Hopefully that’s not the case as college coaches typically don’t pan out in the NBA. Especially ones that didn’t pan out in the NBA during a previous attempt.

This is about a process that began unfolding the night the Knicks finally pulled off the massive trade that brought Anthony to New York in February 2011 — a process that will only kick into overdrive if the Knicks don’t find their way out of this.

If they don’t, anyone can see what’s coming: Mike Woodson gets fired, company man Herb Williams becomes the interim coach and the drumbeat begins in the background for John Calipari to make his long-awaited return to the NBA.
