Nene Suffers Calf Injury in Wizards Opener

If the Wizards had John Wall all of last season, who knows where they would’ve ended. Their record since  getting Wall back was good enough to make the playoffs, but of course it doesn’t work that way.

The Wiz added some good pieces this offseason, but Nene was hurt last night to a calf injury. Hopefully this doesn’t linger.

After the game, Nene could be seen limping as he left the locker room and it’s a left calf injury, CSN later confirmed. The Wizards will practice at Verizon Center on Thursday to prepare for their home opener Friday vs. the Philadelphia 76ers (CSN, 7 p.m. ET).

Nene opened strong for the Wizards by hitting his first three of his first four field goals, all mid-range jump shots. But he apparently came down awkwardly with all of his weight on his left leg on the third attempt. He finished with 12 points and three rebounds in 30 minutes.
