Not that long ago, rumors were swirling about the Kings looking to trade DeMarcus Cousins. He was said to be more of a headache that he’s worth. He’s talented, but has had a few run-ins with coaches in his short career.
My how things have changed. The Kings have decided to give Cousins a max contract extension instead. These days, everybody is a max player in the NBA it seems.
DeMarcus Cousins confirmed to News10 via text message, that he has agreed to a maximum contract extension in principle, to remain with the Sacramento Kings.
The Sacramento Bee was first to report.
When asked about the report, Cousins simply replied,”true.”
One source told News10 that the extension is the maximum for four years, worth $62 million.
The maximum deal Cousins and the Kings could have been eligible for was a five-year extension worth $80 million. He will now be eligible for another maximum contract when he’s 28 years-old.
