Last year, Tyson Chandler of the Knicks was named NBA Defensive Player of the Year. But the strange thing is that didn’t make the all-NBA first team. He was named to the second team. This year, he was the same situation with Marc Gasol. Gasol, this year’s DPOY was named to the second team. Perhaps this is fitting, since many didn’t believe he deserved DPOY honors this year.
Here’s a look at who was named to the first and second teams. The fact that Tim Duncan makes this list is remarkable. Also, this marks the first time since the 1998-99 campaign that Kobe didn’t make either team.
