Kobe Bryant can add another groundbreaking accomplishment in a life full of them. Not only did he have a hall of fame basketball career, he also won an Oscar on Sunday night.

Bryant’s film, “Dear Basketball” was given the award for Best Animated Short Film at the 90th Academy Awards beating out Negative Space, Lou, Garden Party, and Revolting Rhymes.

Bryant worked with famed Disney Animator Glen Keane to create the short, which was based on his retirement from the game of basketball.

Bryant recounts his journey from child to NBA superstar and his decision to move on.

This was another in the effort of Bryant to change the narrative of his persona and public perception from a divisive, volatile player who separated from and berated teammates, to a thoughtful story teller and likable figure.

You can watch the film here.

It is really well done and a great homage to one of the greatest players in NBA history.
