Kawhi Leonard Has Partial Tear in Left Shoulder

More bad news in what has been a rough season for Kawhi Leonard.

The Spurs star small forward has only played in 8 games thus far this season and now is in line to miss more action because of an injury to his left shoulder in the Spurs victory over the Suns on Friday night.

While it is encouraging that it doesn’t appear that the injury is serious, it is still pretty disheartening for Leonard and the Spurs to have another injury to deal with after spending the first third of the season recovering from a strained quadriceps tendon.

Leonard likely won’t miss more than a week or two of action, but knowing the Spurs and their commitment to having a healthy roster come the playoff stretch, I am sure they will be cautious with Leonard and make sure he is completely healed before returning to help curb any possibility of re-injury.

The Spurs are sitting at 3rd place in the western conference at 27-14 and will be able to manage without Leonard in the short-term, but they will need him completely healthy and re-integrated if they want any chance to make a deep postseason run yet again in 2018.
