John Wall: “I am the best two-way point guard in the NBA”

John Wall is an incredibly gifted point guard with a lucrative new contract and is coming off of a season in which he made his first All-NBA Team.

He is also one that has never lacked any confidence in his game and that rang true when he made it clear over the holiday weekend that he feels he is the best two-way point guard in the NBA.

Do you agree with him? While I think John Wall is always slightly underrated and underappreciated as compared to some of his other contemporaries at the position (I think he is a top 10 player in the NBA), it is still hard to place him above the top three point guards in the NBA: Steph Curry, Russell Westbrook and Chris Paul.

Wall is a close 4th in my opinion on that list, but if you are trying to judge each on their ability to play on the defensive side of the ball (they are all elite offensive talents for different reasons), I believe Wall is without question a better defender than Steph Curry or Russell Westbrook. While far bigger, quicker and more athletic at this point, Chris Paul is such a heady player on both ends and a leader through and through that I would still give him the mantle of top all-around point guard in the NBA on both ends at the moment.

Wall appears to be taking his #MambaMentality challenge from Kobe Bryant to heart though as he appears poised to make his 1st All-NBA Defensive team.

If he can do that and put up ridiculous 23 & 11 numbers again while leading the Wizards to a 50 win season, he might just earn the mantle as best two-way point guard in the league.

I look forward to watching him attempt to prove it.
