The Toyota Center, the home of the Houston Rockets, may soon be known as the house of Mutombo as former Rocket and hall of famer Dikembe Mutombo is putting together a group to purchase the team from Leslie Alexander.

Mutombo played the final five seasons of his 19 season NBA career as a Houston Rocket and has always identified with the fan base and the city of Houston.
Here is what he told USA Today in an interview about the situation:
“I’m putting together a group to buy the Houston Rockets, and we’re getting close,” he said. “Getting close in the next couple weeks, maybe I’ll have a chance. Lot of people, lot of people and good people with a lot of money.”
There have been a number of notable names rumored to be involved in the purchase of the team from Beyonce to Houston billionaire Dan Friedkin.
There can be no better option with a group with Dikembe as the face though, he needs to do a pre-game speech and they need to pan to him to do the classic finger wag and “No. No, No!” phrase at least a few times a game.
It will be very interesting to see the Rockets sell as a successful franchise with plenty of talent in the middle of the most lucrative era in NBA history.
