While the fact that John Wall took his time deciding on accepting the four-year, $169 million max extension with the Washington Wizards threw off some alarm bells around the league on whether or not he was intending to bolt in the 2018 free agency, Wall agreed to sign the massive contract with the Wizards over the weekend.
Wall broke the news on Uninterrupted on Friday.

Re-signing with the Wizards was smart business for Wall as he will be earning $42 million on average when the extension kicks in during the 2019-2020 season and Wall is slated to make an incredible $47 million in the final year of the deal at the age of 32 in the 2022-2023 season.
The Wizards essentially gave Wall the best offer possible, save for a no-trade clause. The deal is the absolute most they could offer Wall, it gives him a player option after year three and it includes a 15% trade kicker if they do try to trade him.
It is hard to pass up on that kind of offer for any player and the Wizards clearly have a young core to at least compete in the eastern conference.
In my view, once you get past the super trio of Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook and Steph Curry, Wall is the best all-around point guard in the league with his play making ability, elite athleticism, size, defensive ability and the fact that he may be the fastest player in the NBA with the ball in his hands from end to end.
The is a move the Wizards had to make and a deal that Wall ultimately would have been foolish to pass up on.
