When you play alongside a superstar and are considered the second best player on your team, that has to be an uncomfortable situation to be in. While you love the success of your team, you’re constantly feeling like you need to be recognized. You got that sense from Russell Westbrook for a while, and you can also see that in Klay Thompson.
While Steph Curry appears to be out of the Rio Olympics, Klay Thompson is hoping that he makes the team. He no doubt would like to break out of Steph’s shadow a bit, and flourish with another dominant team for a while. Team USA would give him that opportunity.
“I hope to play for Team USA. It would be a great honor. Just thinking about the Olympics gives me butterflies, just because that’s a dream I always had as a kid. I figure, when this thing’s over, I’ll get a couple weeks (off) and that’s all I need.”
